Some beautiful art from Jill’s class.

This and That:

Staffing:

Rachel will be taking a leave from her position next year to support her dad with medical needs- it’s great that she can be there for him! We will be hiring for her position a little later this spring.

Our media position will be posted as temporary through the end of this school year and we will post for the permanent position a little later this spring.

Foundational Skills Adoption:  The foundational skills adoption work is moving very quickly. At our March 1 staff meeting, Shannon and Olivia will be sharing the “core beliefs” work from the adoption team and eliciting your feedback. I recommend that you take the time to deeply listen and read the materials that are shared as there are some big instructional shifts that are coming with our language arts adoption over the next two years.

SIW Agenda: SIW this week is “Teacher Prep”

Staff Meeting: Our staff meeting agenda this week will include more information on Harmony and the upcoming foundational skills adoption.

Focus on Excellence and Equity:

TLC Update: Here is a link to this week’s TLC Update. Some topics of note: information about the foundational skills adoption and Harmony support (same as in our Eagle Essentials this week).

Harmony SEL: As I have spent time in classrooms around the school, I have noticed many of you jumping into Harmony SEL. This year is our “soft start” of launching the curriculum with expectations increasing for next school year. There are many opportunities to slowly incorporate different components into your SEL time. Here are some quick guides that support the training you received earlier this year:
Strong Start
Quicklinks
Harmony Game Room App available in self-service for students

At our next staff meeting, Jessica will be passing out extra resources that the district has provided for you. Thank you all for committing to supporting our student’s social-emotional growth this year!

Daily Check-ins: Many of you incorporate the trauma-informed practice of “Daily check-ins” into your routines. Take a look at this short one-pager for some resources and to learn a little more about the practice.

COVID/ Safety Related Information:

EME COVID Anonymous Safety Concern Form: Link here.

Vaccine Update: Are you “up to date” on your vaccine? As we start to plan for making masks optional it is important that everyone reviews their vaccination status. The CDC is shifting away from the phrase “fully vaccinated” in favor of calling people “up to date” on their COVID-19 vaccines.

  • Up to date is defined as: Ages 18 and older: Boosted or completed primary series of Pfizer or Moderna within the last 5 months or completed the primary series of J&J within last 2 months. Ages 5-17: Completed the primary series of COVID-19 vaccines
  • Not up to date is defined as: Unvaccinated OR Has not completed the primary series of any COVID-19 vaccines OR (For individuals ages 18 and older) completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna more than 5 months ago and is not boosted.
