The kindergartners were tuckered after a day at forest kindergarten (a couple of weeks ago). Not pictured… the tuckered-out teachers.

This and That:

UKG Time and Leave: UKG Time and Leave is live, and the first week went relatively smoothly for such a huge system change. That said, as you run into glitches or something doesn’t seem right, please check with Chris, visit the UKG webpage, and/or call the technology help desk.

EET Website: Take a look at the new EET (PTO) Website created by one of our families, Hannah Golen.

Cybersecurity Training (From Scott McDonald): Since February 1st, 1,230 staff members have completed their KnowB4 cyber-security training. That is nearly a participation record for Bend-La Pine Schools! Reminder messages will be sent to any staff member who has not completed the training by the first week of March. Thank You for your commitment to internet security!

Phishing Report Tool (From Scott McDonald): IT wants to remind all staff that a very effective “phishing Reporting Tool” is built into our email system. If you suspect an email message addressed to you is a scam or in any way “phishy”, it is 100% okay to report the message using this tool. Use it as much as you want! Getting to the phishing tool can look a little different depending on the email client that you use. Just know that you can always find it in the “meatball” menu (…) that is clearly visible near the top of your email toolbar. Finally, please resist the temptation of sending potentially fraudulent emails to our technology staff. Forwarding these messages can have a multiplier effect on the reach of the scam.

COVID Sick Days: Bend–La Pine Schools (BLS) and our Associations have agreed to a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) regarding the impacts of COVID-19 on the workplace. There is a provision for five (5) paid COVID-19 hardship days, and employees can request retroactive credit for absences applied against their sick leave. To determine if you are eligible for the retroactive credit, we’ve created a form for you to review and submit if one or more of the categories apply to 2022/23 leave taken before Monday, February 13, 2023. The form is NOT to be used for COVID-19 related leave beginning on February 13 as staff can designate “COVID” when they submit Frontline Absence Management/Aesop substitute requests or within UKG for non-Frontline/Aesop users.

Monday Staff Meeting Agenda: No school, no meeting 🙂

  • **Note from Kelle – please take a moment to read this short article. It’s an important reminder that Black History (and race in general) should be taught throughout the year – February is just a great time to take it deeper**

Safety Related Information:

EME Safety Concern Form: Link here. You can use this form to report any safety concerns – big or small. Please use this form or talk directly with Frank or Kelle.

To Do:

Staffing Preference Survey: Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about staffing for next year. Principals should have our staffing allocations and asked to build a staffing plan for 2023-2024 before spring break. ALL POSITIONSplease take a couple of moments to complete this staffing preferences survey before March 2nd. Thank you.

Oregon Statewide Educator Survey: Please see Kelle’s email sent on 2/19 with a direct link and access token to take the survey.

Parent Volunteers: Before a volunteer can begin, you need to get official confirmation from Nicole or Chris that the parent has passed the background check. Once they say yes, you will need to add them to this weekly google document letting us know who to expect each day.

Spending Due Date: Student body and general fund accounts need to be spent by April 15th (or ask Kelle for permission to spend it after that date). Please see Chris if you aren’t sure how much money you still have in your account(s). Like the past two years, the schoolwide budget will cover the basic school supplies for next year. Some ideas for your remaining balance: specialty art items, prize box items, or specialized school supplies.
