Principal’s Hello

Dear Golden Eagle Families,

Our standardized test scores are trickling in from the state, and we’re seeing big growth so far on every test in every grade. Thank you for talking to your students about taking these tests seriously.

These scores represent our individual students, school, and district, and we want this public-facing scores to accurately reflect what our kids can do and the high-quality teaching we have at Pacific Crest. Next week I’ll send the data for you to see.

A big shout-out to our performing arts teachers: Sydney Harms and Sterling Roberts. At the end of each semester, these two teachers put the results of their teaching on display. Many of our kids had never been musical before, and it’s extraordinary to see our students’ growth.

Finally, this morning we had our staff versus student volleyball game, where a handful of willing, able, and brave staff members played their hardest against the 7th grade champion team. It wasn’t pretty, but we held our own and only lost by a few points!

Enjoy the beautiful Bend weekend.

Sean

Math Bypass Testing

During the first week of June, sixth and seventh grade students who are interested in bypassing a level of Mathematics instruction will have the opportunity to take a bypass assessment. The bypass assessment is not available for students in 8th grade to bypass high school courses as these courses earn credit toward graduation.

This assessment will evaluate students’ understanding of key concepts in Number and Operations as well as Algebra and Algebraic Thinking, in order to determine whether they have mastered the skills taught in the grade level they wish to skip.

Please complete this Registration Form to let us know you would like your child to take the bypass assessment.

At PCMS, the bypass test will take place on Wednesday, June 4, starting at 9AM . Test results will be shared within a few days, and families will then be guided through the next steps based on the outcome.

Healthy Schools | Summer Break Support

Summer break is almost here! While this can be a restful break, we know there can still be hard times that come up when extra support is needed.

There are many resources still available, even to graduates, during the break. Care Solace, YouthLine, and your local School Based Health Centers are just a few available all summer long!  Click here for information about local resources and hotlines.

Important: Lost & Found

It is Spring and we have an overabundance of unclaimed lost and found items. PCMS does not take responsibility for misplaced or lost items. On Friday, June 13, all unclaimed items will be donated to local charity. We would greatly appreciate families reminding their students to check lost and found regularly until the end of the school year to possibly find something that belongs to them. Thanks!
