Monday, September 20th

Hello Everyone! Thank you for all you did to support our students through the second week of the academic year. To me the second week feels like one of the longest of the year, topped only by the week before the holidays and the last full week of June. I hope you had a cozy, recuperative weekend and enjoyed the rain. It was wonderful to see snow on the mountains this morning and know our area was getting some relief from the smoke and dust that have been so present these last few months.

Here’s a schedule of meetings and events for this week:

  • 7:45 AM on Wednesday, 9/22: OSSM Meeting in Amy’s Webex Room
  • 9:30 AM on Wednesday, 9/22: Elementary Meeting @ NSE
  • 10:30 AM on Wednesday, 9/22: Secondary Meeting @ NSE

One focus of our level meetings on Wednesday will be student progress, and how we can systematically respond to students who are not engaging or making progress. We will NOT have a NSE-based staff meeting this Wednesday. Kevin will be facilitating in-person DIBELS testing for our elementary students (the first of 3 optional sessions) and Amy will be attending a school design planning meeting at the Education Center. Please use this time as needed to work with your teams on resources and plans to support your students.

As an FYI for everyone…“Study Skills” classes start this week for full time online secondary students. Each study skills group meets twice a week. This is one of the ways we have “enhanced” BLSO for our 6th-12th grade students. These classes are intended to support both SEL and academics, and give students additional supports as they learn virtually. Here is how we’ve divided things up:

  • 6th, 7th & 8th Grade: Lori Craft
  • 9th Grade: Brad Soto
  • 10th Grade: Amy Douglass
  • 11th & 12th Grade: Michelle Oliver

Have a wonderful week!
