What a beautiful weekend! I hope you were able to enjoy it.
Here at our BLSO North Star Headquarters, things are pretty quiet with some people out because of sickness, others in quarantine and others waiting for test results. AND to top that off, some of the rest of us are being called on to sub in classrooms. Best wishes to our entire team for strength and health, AND quick recoveries.
Welcome to Lisa K! I’m happy to announce that Lisa Knowles is now part of our OSSM team. She’s holding down the house in South County, stationed at La Pine High School. Lisa brings lots of previous experience in schools to this position. She is replacing Megan, who took a teaching position at La Pine Middle School. I hope you all get to meet her soon. Starting mid year is HARD, so thank you’s also go out to Michelle who has been helping Lisa get things dialed. OSSM team…please reach out and welcome her as you can!
YouthTruth Survey: I sent out a staff note last week with details for your YouthTruth Survey. If you haven’t already completed that, here’s the link: http://www.ytsurvey.org/blpomsstaff22. The first question it will ask is “Do you work at Bend-La Pine Online, Grades 6-8?” You can answer this as “Yes”. I guess they couldn’t set it up to say grades K-12. If you need or want more detail on the survey, please reference my email from last Thursday, 1/6.
Elementary and secondary teams-at our meetings on Wednesday I’d love an update on progress with regard to getting this survey to all students and families 6-12 and elementary families!

Our certified staff should attend an Educator Network session during this time. Most of our Educator Network sessions are being offered via Webex. You can sign up in Performance Matters. Here is an overview of the session options for elementary. Secondary teachers are meeting in content teams. Please attend the same session as October. You should have received information from your facilitator. If you didn’t attend an October session or there wasn’t one relevant to your content area, please check out the elementary options! There are some great topics that apply K-12. Note that Performance Matters is currently down-Monday afternoon-if you want to attend a session and it doesn’t come up soon you can email the session leader. - Educator network sessions have been postponed. A new plan for Wednesday afternoon is forthcoming from Kevin.
Everyone have a wonderful week! Though I personally LOVE the snowy weather, my kids are excited to have dry roads so they can play around outside on their skateboards, pogo sticks and skateboards. I guess a few weeks of June-uary aren’t that bad…as long as this isn’t a “so long” to winter…
