Monday AM Teacher Notes

Greetings All,
I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend, and for all the amazing mama’s, I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

The auction was another great evening of connecting, celebrating, and fundraising! A big thanks to those of you who were able to make it, and a special big thanks to those of you who were able to volunteer a bit (and a very special thank you to Haley 😳)! Though the attendance was a bit low this year, we still did quite well!

A few notes to get you going:
1) DIBELS on Monday starting at 10am and will continue after lunch. As always, it’s great to have your kiddos warm up by reading a bit beforehand! If you have a special request in terms of timing please let me know. (Lauren, we’ll need to run PE classes outside on Monday–thanks!)

2) Children’s museum will be here on Tuesday. Below is the schedule.
8-9:00am: Grades 4 and 5
9-9:45am: Kinder and Grade 1 (Choice time from 8:45-9)
10-10:45am: Grades 2 and 3

*The folks coming to set this up need the gym starting at 7:30am so we will be having Community Time outside that day.

3) UKG-Recently I asked that you check UKG and check your to do list–you can find it by looking for the little black bell that likely has a red dot and a number on the top right of it:

A big thanks to those of you who got in there and took care of your list! Since that time I’ve initiated a Self Evaluation that you’ll need to complete and soon we’ll need to meet to do end of year Summative Evaluations. To do the Summatives we’ll need to make a time to meet in the coming weeks-check your email today for the link.

4) Staff Meeting on Tuesday, 2:30pm in Brian’s room.

5) SIW this week is a Teacher Work Day–enjoy the time!

6) On Thursday, Kinder and Grade 3 are headed to see Alice in Wonderland at Summit, and Grade 4 will be going on Friday.

7) Grade 1 is headed to Benham Falls on Friday.

8) Bread and Jam on Friday!

New School-wide Theme: Perseverance! Good timing, yes?

Hey Team!
I hope you had a fantastic weekend! We are definitely in the final stretch of the year and everyone is feeling it! Michelle and I got away this weekend and ended up on the one of the Wikiup fingerlings. Below is a shot from Sunday morning sunrise–that’s the back of Bachelor in the distance.

A few notes to get you going:
1) Feliz Cinco de Mayo! For the REAL meaning of Cinco de Mayo, have a look: Cinco de May

2) It’s AUCTION WEEK, and auction time on Saturday! Lots of people have been working hard to make it happen once again. As always, you are not required to be there but I sure do love seeing you there and having few laughs. This year’s theme is Under the Palms-think Hawaiian/Florida cringe/tropical leisure.

3) Cafe Amity on Wednesday, Grade 5 is hosting.

4) School Nurses Appreciation Day is May 7. Thank you to Cynthia for all she does for Amity!!

5) Ian will be here singing with K/1/2 (and Grade 4 during Enrichment) for the next few weeks. As a reminder, here is the schedule on Thursdays:

*9:40-10:10 Grade 1
*10:15-10:45 Grade 2

6) Lori will be joining us for about 30 minutes this week at SIW to introduce us to EL language dives.

7) We’re doing our annual Volunteer Appreciation Tea on May 22 after Community Time. Patti will be sending you a link to the volunteer document–please take a moment to add any and all volunteers to the list so we don’t miss anyone. Thanks in advance!

Hey Fine Folks,
I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend! If my counting is correct (and not that I’m counting!) we have 33 days of school left…

A big congratulations to Amanda and Karima who are being honored with the Excellence in Education award this year–very well deserved!

A few notes to get you rolling:
1) Child Abuse Prevention lessons are supposed to be completed by Wednesday (end of April). Please be sure they are completed no later than Friday, and email me when you have completed the lessons. Thanks!

2) Regarding volunteers for field trips. With the ability to sometimes leave early on field trips due to the bus arriving early, let’s be REALLY clear with parents about what time you need them ready to go. You could say something to the effect of “The bus is scheduled for 9:30am, however some times it arrives early and we are able to leave earlier. So, please arrive no later than 9am in case we can leave early.”

3) When’s the last time you checked UKG? If it’s been a while please do so ASAP. There are some mini observations that have not been signed off on. Please be sure you are checking UKG regularly. Also, I’ll be finishing up mini observations in the next week or two and then moving on to Teacher Self Reflections–more info soon.

4) A few calendar dates to explain:
May 1 (this Thursday): Summit Theater group is bringing their production of Don’t Let Pigeon Drive The Bus. We’ll start at 8:30am

May 13: Children’s Museum of Central Oregon will be here with a bevy of hands on science. Classes will rotate through, schedule coming in the near future.

May 23: Summit High Jazz Choir will drop in to share their craft. 11:45am (we’ll need to switch up Kinder Enrichment for that day). 30-45 minutes.

Also, just an FYI, Ian will be doing some singing with K-2 and Grade 4 in the month of May. We’re hoping he’ll bring some singing to Community Time as well.

5) Just FYI-due to the upcoming auction we have moved Teacher Appreciation Week to the week of May 19 so you can be fully appreciated with no distractions!

6) On Monday I plan to join both Grade 3 and Grade 4 for a little while out at Suttle Lake. Brad will be here from 10:30-2:30pm to help out.

A Very Happy Monday All!
I hope Conversations went very well and that you enjoyed the very we’ll deserved long weekend. We’re headed into the last part of the year, always a busy and exciting time!

A few notes to get you rolling:
1) If you were not able to meet with a family or two (or three, four?) for a Conversation, please reach out one last time to try and set up a time to meet. Also, anything I need to know coming out of Conversations?

2) A few field trips this week:
*Tuesday-Grade 4 heads to Knott Landfill
*Friday-Grade 2 heads to Fall River

3) District ICCL on Tuesday–Brian, Sara, and I will be leaving school around 2:30pm for this.

4) SIW this week is Educator Network–we’ll do this together at Amity. This will be an introduction to our new math curriculum. The online presentation will be from 1:55-3:15pm, which will include a Q and A from 3-3:15.

5) Fire drill on Thursday at 10:35

6) Our DIBELS date has changed–it will now be on May 12

7) Just a reminder that Child Abuse Prevention lessons need to be completed by the end of the month. Please let me know once you are done as I have to report back to the district. Thanks!

8) Bread and Jam on Friday

Lastly, a few of us will be attending Stacey’s Celebration of Life on Friday at 2pm. The plan is to have an end of day recess from 1:45-2pm which will free up the group that is headed to the celebration. We can talk more about this later in the week.

School-wide Theme: Collaboration (through April)

Welcome back!
I hope you had an amazing break and I’m excited to hear about your adventures (near and far). My dad’s memorial was earlier today and it was really amazing to connect with family and friends and celebrate my dad! Michelle and I are still in LA and driving back to Bend starting tomorrow-I won’t arrive back in town until Tuesday. So, I’ll catch up with you on Wednesday! In the meantime, Brad will be here to help out.

A few notes to kick off this last part of the year:
1) Correction to something I shared prior to the break regarding Conversations. Apparently the adjustment that was made in the Fall had something to do with Halloween being on Thursday night and the need to finish meetings before trick or treat time. We will be back to the old schedule of Conversations on Wednesday afternoon (or all day if you choose), and all day into the evening on Thursday. No school Friday. Apologies for getting out ahead of direction from the district team. Note: You are welcome to start Conversations Tuesday afternoon if you so choose.

Additionally, please be sure to share information about Conversations and your sign up link with families by the end of this week. We always have families darting out early so let’s try and catch them before they finalize their plans!

2) A little housekeeping:
*Please be sure your doors are locked when you are not in your room during break times.
*If you have kiddos in your room (any time) please remember that they should not be alone. As I have encouraged many times, touch base with a neighbor (or me!) to keep an eye on your kiddos while you are away from the classroom. Bottom line is we shouldn’t be leaving students alone in classrooms at any time.
*Let’s do a little better in terms of cleaning up the kitchen on a daily basis-lots of dishes being left in the sink.

3) SIW this week will be an SIW/Staff meeting combo. 1:00pm in Brian’s room. Add items to the agenda: SIW link

4) Same Buddies until April 11, then we start with new Buddies until the end of the school year: April 14-June 6: K/1st; 2nd/4th; 3rd/5th

5) I’ll be leaving right after school on Thursday to help out at the annual job fair in Redmond.

Hey all,
Just a quick note this week. I am sad to report that my dad passed away on Friday night, but happy to report that he passed peacefully. I will be in LA through Tuesday and Brad will be at school to help out. Thanks for all the love and support over the last few months, I am beyond grateful!
