Monday AM Notes, May 28

Good Morning All,
I hope the long weekend was good to you! While I didn’t get to go camping as planned, it sure was nice to have a little extra weekend time at this point in the year!

We’re heading in to the last push of the year–only 3 more weeks to go! It’s going to be a busy, but super fun 3 weeks!

A few notes to get us going:
1) In case you haven’t yet heard, I will be going to Camp Tamarack with the Grade 5 class this week. We leave on Wednesday at 9:15 and return around 11:30 on Friday. If you need support please reach out to Scott and/or Matt. If it is an emergency, you can try my cell phone (unlikely to get through due to poor cell service) or you can ask Patti to call the camp phone and they will get me.

2) Child Resilience Survey is TODAY. I sent you all an email with more details. Grades K-2 will be done 2:30-3:30.

3) EBISS on Wednesday–Jake will lead. Please bring any data that you have, including info from the second math screener.
9:15-9:45—Grade 5
9:45-10:15— Grade 4
10:30-11:00—Grade 2
11:00-11:30—Grade 1
1:00-1:30—Grade 3 (Brad to cover)
*Lindsey, we’ll make time to meet next week.

4) SIW this week–please meet to discuss the Grade 5 gift. 2:30 in Matt’s room.

5) The Volunteer Tea is next Thursday immediately following Community Time. The plan will be to send all the kiddos out to the playground for about 15 minutes with the EAs so that all teachers can be at the tea for a few minutes. You will have an opportunity to say a few words if you want. ALSO, please take some time in the next week to have your kiddos make some thank you cards for the volunteers from your classroom. And, if you haven’t submitted the names of your volunteers please do it today (to Patti)!

6) Wednesday will be the last Cafe Amity of the year. Grade 1 hosts.

7) Field trips this week:
Tuesday: Grade 2 to Skyliner

8) Grade 4 events this week–lots going on:
*Class play is this Wednesday at 1:30pm on the outside stage! All are invited to attend and we hope you are there with your class.
*Oregon Trail campfire at Community Time on Thursday, and Contra Dancing at 2:30pm in the gym!
*Grade 4 Art Show on Friday at 11:15, showcasing art done in partnership with Kinder buddies from Elk Meadow. Please stop in to take a gander with your classes.

9) Camp Amity is next Monday and Tuesday!

10) We’ll have the Summer Reading Program assemblies next week on Wednesday: K-2 at 9:15, Grades 3-5 at 9:30.

Monday AM Notes, May 20

Good Morning,
I hope the weekend was great. I know what April showers bring, but what about May showers? We have 4 more glorious week left in the school year and I’m really looking forward to all the things we still have left!

A few notes to get you going:
1) Yes ladies and gentlemen, the amazing CATS troupe will perform again this week on Tuesday night at 6:30pm!

2) The annual Volunteer Appreciation Tea will be held on June 6 immediately following Community Time. Please send me the names of parent volunteers from your class by the end of this week so we can send out invites. Thanks!

3) Tomorrow is Middle School Move-Up day for our graduating 5th graders! They’ll be gone in the morning visiting their future schools.

4) Field trips this week:
Tuesday: Grade 1 heads to Skyliner

5) Last EBISS of the year will be Wednesday, May 29. Please be sure to do the math screener with the select few students in your class.

6) SIW this week: Inspired by the discussion at the end of our last SIW we will have time to explore accountability, common language and expectations, and overall stewardship at Amity. 2:30pm in Heidi’s room.

7) Our pledge and donation count for the Bowl-a-thon was over $6000! Now we need your help in getting families to secure their pledges and donations and get them back to school. Please include a note in any communications you send home in the next two weeks. I’ll send a note to families as well.

Monday AM Notes, May 13

Good Morning!
I hope Mother’s Day weekend was good to you all! Couldn’t resist this really bad Mother’s Day joke: What did the mama spider say to her son? I’m concerned about the amount of time you spending on the web.

Patti will out this week Tuesday to Friday and Korey will be here in her place.

A few notes to get you going:
1) We have a MAC Training this Wednesday at 8:15am. Let’s meet in Matt’s room.

2) DIBLES Wednesday AM. Scott will coordinate.

3) Grade 3 hosts Cafe Amity this week

4) SIW: We’ll continue discussion of our plans for next year. Ray will be with us all day and joining us for the meeting.

5) We missed our drill last week so we’ll have a Fire Drill on Tuesday at 10am.

6) Field trips this week:
*Grade 1 heads to Bend Science Station on Thursday

7) CATS performance this Thursday at 2:30. Please be in the gym and ready for the show by 2:25 (immediately following afternoon Choice Time).

8) Last Bread and Jam of the year is this Friday

9) Dale will be out this week and next, Deb will be here to cover

10) Jake and I will both be out on Friday attending a Ross Greene workshop

11) I have an admin meeting today so will be leaving around 3:30.

12) It’s testing season for Grades 3/4/5-wish them luck!

Monday AM Notes, May 6

A few notes to get us going:
1) In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week there will be 2 meals provided for you this week–Tuesday lunch hosted by classified, Friday breakfast (bagels, pastries, fruit) hosted by me.

2) EasyCBM this week:

*Grades 3/4/5 please let me know when you will administer in classrooms

3) It’s National School Nurse on Wednesday.

4) March for Students Rally on Wednesday. You can make your way down to the old Mill to march with others by 2:30pm, or you can meet up with those who have marched from various locations at the Ed Center at 2:45pm.

5) Amity Pint Night at Worthy on Tuesday from 4-9pm. Try and make it if you can, I’ll definitely be there.

6) Bowl-a-thon this Friday! Kinder/1/5 at 9:15am, 2/3/4 at 11:45. We’ll have to do lunch a little early for the second crew–11:30. Please remind parents to get all forms in–the one with shoe size must be here by the end of the day tomorrow (Tues).

7) The district has selected an architectural firm for the Amity remodel (summer ’20). They’d like to start meeting with a small group–me, Patti, Jim, and 2 teachers. We’ll have a few meetings to get the ball rolling (date/time TBD). If you are interested in being part of the initial conversations please let me know.

8) Bend Food Project collection pick up is Wednesday–please make one more push in communications with families if you can.

10) Grade 4 hosts Cafe Amity this week

11). Heidi has been working with a group of students on a rendition of Cats and they will perform on May 16. Here’s Heidi’s invite that will go out to parents in the newsletter today: Come one, come all as our own 3rd/4th grade performers bring Amity style to the musical CATS! Celebrate the genius of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and writer T.S. Elliot wrapped in the Creeker spirit! Showtime: May 16 at 2:30 in the gym.

12) Jodie Chusid has a free weekend lift ticket that she’d like to give to an Amity staff member. Let me know if you want it.

13) Fire Drill Thursday, 1:45.
