School-wide theme: Kindness and Compassion

Hello all you fine people!
What a great week it was last week with Camp Amity and the kick-off of the Variety Show! I know rehearsals can be a bit hectic, but the pay off is so grand! Thanks for all the upcoming extra work on getting the kiddos ready to shine!

Patti update: Patti and Jeff are settling in to routines at home and Jeff is showing good signs of recovery, albeit slowly at times. It looks like it could be a few more weeks before Patti returns to work, and I’m encouraging her to take all the time she needs.

A few notes to get you going:
1) Variety Show rehearsals start today–1:30-2:15pm! Here’s the schedule we agreed to: Variety Show Rehearsals

Singing/dancing (meet in Grade 1 to start): Sara, Amanda, Lindsey
Skits (meet in Grade 3 to start): Ray, Frans

2) No Tuesday meeting this week–Sara, Brian, and I have ICCL stuff to do.

3) Student Success Meeting on Wed/Thurs–please be sure your SSM Prep form is completed ASAP: SSM Prep Forms

4) NO SIW on Wednesday. You’re giving up your some of your prep times for the next few weeks for rehearsals, so this is the least I can do to give you back some of that time.

New School Wide Theme: Kindness and Compassion

Hey all,
I hope Friday ended up being a particularly productive day and that you headed into the weekend ready to relax and revive.

A few notes to get you going:
1) Staff meeting on Monday (instead of Tuesday as per my email on Friday). 2:45-3:30pm in Brian’s room. Add agenda items: Staff Meetings 23-24

2) Tammy Doty will be here Monday morning from 8:30-9:30. We’ll be walking around and stopping in to a few classrooms. Anyone doing something spectacularly awesome you’d like to share?

3) DIBELS on Wednesday. Let’s get those kids warmed up with some good reading time before the assessments begin.

4) SIW on Wednesday–1:30 in Brian’s room.

5) Camp Amity on Thursday!

6) Variety Show launch at 1:30pm on Thursday in the gym! Snacks provided. Here’s the Variety Show rehearsal schedule we worked on last week: Variety 2024

7) Bread and Jam afterschool on Friday.

2) My last plea…the Youth Truth survey has been extended until the end of this week. If you haven’t done the survey (that’s half of you!) please take a few minutes to do it this week. ytsurvey.org/acestaff24

3) SIW this week is a Teacher Work Day

4) NO School this Friday- Teacher work day for you! I am hoping we can meet at 11am for about 10-15 minutes to finalize our plan for the Variety Show launch and rehearsals.

6) Camp Amity next Thursday, Feb 8!

7) The district is hosting a Black History Month celebration this Wednesday at Pacific Crest Middle School. I know a few of us are already planning to go, would be great if others wanted to join. Here’s the flyer:

8) Just an FYI we will run the lottery for Grades 1-5 on Tuesday. This doesn’t impact classes for next year, we will just have new waitlists for these grades if needed. New this year is that there is no longer a specific waitlist order–this may upset some families that are currently on a waitlist, but it’s the district’s new policy. Kinder lottery will be run in March, shortly after we have our Info Night (March 7 from 5-6pm).

School-wide Theme: Integrity and Responsibility

Happy Monday Team,
Well, that was a crazy week last week! I’m hoping we can get back into our routines this week!

A few notes to get you going :
1) If you haven’t taken the Youth Truth survey yet please do so this week. The survey is open until January 26-this Friday! I would really love to have 100% staff participation! Right now it’s less than 50%. Staff link: ytsurvey.org/acestaff24. Thanks!

2) Team Collaboration Time on Tuesday starting at 2:45pm. A good opportunity to jump start things you have been working on together or planning to work on together. 2:45pm

3) SIW this week will be a make-up from our missed Educator Network Days the last 2 weeks. Brian and Sara will lead this activity. Brian’s room at 1:30pm.

4) I’ll be doing some mini-observations (most for you) as well as some formal observations (just Haley and Lauren) in the coming weeks. I’d love to get some times from each of you of when you’d like me to come in for the observation–times you are doing an activity/lesson that you’d like me to see and/or get some feedback about. Please email me in the next few days. I’d like to make these observations meaningful for you! Thanks

5) Something to add to our tightening up exercise–please be sure that the stage is getting cleaned after your Community Time (and practices). Thanks!

6) I have an admin meeting on Tuesday so I’ll be leaving campus as soon as kiddos are gone.

I hope you enjoyed the long, wintery weekend! Another 4 day week ahead…

A few notes to get you going:

Ideally parents are engaging with themes with their kiddos at home and knowing what you’re doing at school is super helpful.

4) Cafe Amity on Wednesday hosted by Kindergarten.

5) DIBELS date has changed. Due to the snow day last week, some DIBELS days have been shifted. We are now February 7th. We’ll reschedule our Student Support Meetings and I’ll share the new date with you soon.

6) I sent you all an email last week regarding tightening up on some things around school. I could tell instantly that some of you took the request to heart and I am very appreciative! Please take a moment to re-read the email first thing this week to be sure you didn’t miss anything.

7) For those not using Lexia on a regular basis please remember that Lexia can be a valuable tool for helping some of our striving readers, giving them some needed extra practice.

8) Camp Amity is coming up February 8th! We’ll be sending permission slips home soon and we’ll need to get those lunch counts.

9) Amity Eats this month is Cuppa Yo this Thursday from 4pm until close. Please include in any communications you send home between now and then. Thanks!

January’s Theme: Responsibility and Integrity

Hello Y’all,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I got to take Kaila back to Corvallis for her second term at OSU–bittersweet for sure! And now I’m an empty nester again which is pretty amazing, too!

A few notes to get you going:
1) The YouthTruth Survey is back again this year. The district is once again reaching out to all families and staff members in the district to complete this very important survey in the new year. Survey results give us valuable feedback about our school and are very useful in helping us refine and improve how we do things. Here’s the link to do the short, but very helpful survey:YouthTruth 24. PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY, it is very helpful to get the feedback! Happy New Year Y’all, it’s 2024!
I hope you had an amazing break and great family-filled holidays! I am so excited to be returning to school after being away for 8 weeks and can’t wait to reconnect with everyone. The few visits I made in December really filled my bucket and helped me to keep working hard on my recovery. Thanks for your patience while I was away and for keepings things running so smoothly, I am beyond appreciative!

As I shared with you in the last few days Patti will be out for a few weeks to be with Jeff. Kelli will be holding down the fort for us for the time being. In the meantime, let’s continue to keep Patti and Jeff in our hearts! I’ll update you as I get new information.

A few notes to get 2024 rolling:
1) The Theme for January is Responsibility and Integrity!

2) SIW this week is in house. We’ll use this time to reconnect, reflect on things that are working and things that may not, and do some planning for the coming months. I’m excited to have this time!
